AmeriCorps NCCC Class 19 Corps Member Spotlight: Andrew Kuka
Andrew Kuka, from Grand Vernon, N.J., is a member of Oak 1 in NCCC’s Class 19. He arrived in Vinton on February 5, 2013, to start his 10-month service term on a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Oak 1 is made up of nine people from across the country, and they are serving together in a number of service projects across the North Central Region throughout their term. Traditional Iowa and Presidential Success Inspire Iowa State Fair Butter Cow
The world-famous Iowa State Fair Butter Cow will share the spotlight this year with the majestic Lincoln Highway. The sculptures will be on display in the Agriculture Building's 40 degree cooler throughout the Fair, August 8-18.
This year's companion sculptures honor an Iowa landmark's anniversary with a replica of the Lincoln Highway Bridge in Tama and a relief sculpture of Abraham Lincoln.

The following graduated from Mount Mercy University.
Commencement exercises were held at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena Sunday, May 19.
Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mount Mercy enrolls over 1,800 students and offers 35 majors and as many minors in eight academic departments. The university also has four graduate programs.

Students with a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better, and who are graded (letter grade, not pass/fail) for six or more semester hours, are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List.

UNIV. OF DUBUQUE SPRING DEAN'S LIST
The University of Dubuque congratulates Dylan Ramsey of Urbana, on being appointed to the Spring Semester 2013 Academic Dean's List.
To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

NCCC Cedar 3 helps restore greenhouses

AmeriCorps NCCC team Cedar 3 recently finished working with Central Rivers Farmshed in Stevens Point, Wis. The team was assisting the Farmshed in its efforts to restore three abandoned greenhouses and establish a better local food economy and an overall healthier community.
